Jewelry Care

1. Jewelry should never be wet or exposed to high temperatures, and some woven ad fabric pieces should
be stored flat. Storing sterling silver in the open air and humidity can cause it to tarnish quickly. To reduce your tarnish and keep your jewelry tarnish free, it is recommended that sterling silver or costume jewelry
be stored in an air- tight protective bag made of tarnish proof cloth or plastic zip lock bag. The natural oils from the skin helps minimize the tarnishing off sterling silver items, so the more often the jewelry is worn,
the less likely it is to tarnish.

2. Keeping your pieces stored, organized, and covered is a great way to have long lasting jewelry.
Placing the items in a airtight snack-size bags to keep it shiny between polishing's is also a great idea. Properly storing fashion and costume jewelry is of equal importance as the cleaning process.
It is necessary to take the time to create an adequate storage environment for all jewelry. Because fashion and costume jewelry is made out of materials of lesser quality than fine jewelry, it might be assumed that this type of jewelry can be thrown together into a single box or jewelry compartment. However, this is not
the case, as close contact among a mess of jewelry pieces will most certainly lead to scratches. To avoid unwanted damage from improper storage, it is key to store each piece of jewelry in its own soft pouch
or box. Another way to safely organize and store fashion and costume jewelry is to use a jewelry box with
a variety
of compartments.

3. Costume jewelry is made from materials like plastic and glass, and these materials, unlike most metals
and stones, are not able to handle harsh jewelry cleaner solutions. Once a gentle jewelry cleaner is found, simply follow the directions on the bottle's label in order to properly clean a jewelry collection. As fashion
and costume jewelry should be kept away from exposure to harsh cleaning solutions, this type of jewelry should never make contact with a number of other substances as well. It is highly recommended to never wear fashion and costume jewelry while cleaning, as exposure is likely with chemicals such as acid, ammonia, alcohol, or vinegar. Also, another helpful tip is to add jewelry last. This means when getting ready for work
in the morning or for an evening soiree, jewelry should be added after having already applied lotions, hairsprays, and perfumes. Though chemicals in these beauty products have
no harm to skin or hair, they wreak havoc on fashion and costume jewelry.

4. Always remember costume jewelry and water just do not mix. So avoid leaving it in moist bathrooms,
in a wet pile after swimming or showering or in any pool of water. When traveling or carrying your jewelry around use a roll – also known as an jewelry organizer – as it is soft so it protects your treasures from nasty knocks. Avoid letting your costume fashion jewelry coming into contact with soap, face creams,
or moisturizers. If they do rinse clean and pat dry. Make sure they’re fully dry before putting it away.
Clean your jewelry gently with cotton buds or a soft toothbrush with a little distilled water.
Make sure it is properly dried so to look after the metal settings.
